Part of the LGBTQIA+ community? Love books? Come hang!
Pride & Joy Book Club is a space for queer & trans adults to enjoy good books and community together. This new book club will read and discuss a wide range of fiction that reflects LGBTQIA+ experiences. We celebrate that though historically they were often erased, queer & trans stories have always existed, everywhere!
This month we will discuss the semi-autobiographical novel Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin, available for checkout at Laman Library in the Book Club section. Plot summaries and key passages will be available at every meeting for any folks who need a memory aid. Completing the full book before the meeting is strongly recommended but not required. Just know there WILL be spoilers!
Pride & Joy meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 to 7 PM. Meetings were formerly held at Flyway Brewing. They will NOW be held in the main space of the Argenta Library at 420 Main Street (not too far from Flyway!). Come on up the front steps and we will greet you at the door! No more easy ordering refreshments at Flyway, but folks are encouraged to bring their own snacks/dinners!
No registration is required for club meetings, but if you are a new prospective member, please email Susannah and introduce yourself!
