Explore the science, history, and craft of paper making by hand with the Mobile Makerspace! Up-cycle scraps into functional and ornamental paper embedded with dried flowers.

In this messy activity, participants will

  • learn about the environmental impact of industrial paper-making and the history of paper that dates back 2000 years to China
  • explore the process and tools used to recycle paper by hand
  • learn how to make simple paper-making tools at home
  • craft their own paper from the library's scraps
  • learn how to embed decorative elements like dried flowers, seeds, or metallic flakes.

Did you know that the Mobile Makerspace programs can be booked by any Arkansas organization?

  • Visits are free within North Little Rock and scholarships are now available for organizations outside North Little Rock
